Get to know the main ideas of the forum in which we were a part of with Diario La República
On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, we had the opportunity to participate in the forum organized by Diario La República: “Digital transformation, closing inequality gaps”.
Our CEO, Hugo Zuluaga, was part of the panel of experts in digital transformation along with Denis Amparo Palacios, director of Digital Economy and deputy director of Digital Competencies of the Ministry of ICT; Guillermo Willi, executive director at Digital House; and Sebastián Nieto, head of the Latin America and the Caribbean Unit of the OECD. They left us important conclusions, which involve companies and governments as a significant part of the evolution we are living in terms of technology.
With statistical figures of the Colombian population and the experience of professionals dedicated to technology in the public and private sectors, we were able to discover the important challenges we face in the country to achieve a good appropriation of technology.
The shortage of human talent trained in technological tools and programs is one of the main obstacles that have been arising since last year, when Colombia began to digitize on a larger scale. According to Hugo Zuluaga, it is important to teach this necessary skills from an early age, to train and encourage people to study crucial careers in this fields for the adoption of technology in Colombia.
This is an essential step in the next point discussed at the forum, which is the need of a culture change regarding digital transformation. Training talent is crucial, but it is also essential that companies bet on developing innovative projects. It is also of great importance to demystify the idea that in this new digital era, technology has come to replace people in the workplace.
As the world went through a massive evolution, Colombia was forced to advance in the process of digital transformation that despite showing great progress in certain industries and cities of the country, it has large gaps that still exist among citizens such as, having access to technology and the general lack of knowledge on this subject.
